Old Man Jack’s Book review of C.J. Box’s latest

Shadows Reel is the latest Joe Pickett novel by C.J. Box. Another great book in the series takes place at Thanksgiving just when Joe, the Game warden and Mary Beth the director of the Library are expecting their 3 daughters home for the Holiday!

Mary Beth finds a old character leaving a package on the doorstep of the Library and Joe is called to a ranch to check out a dead moose! As the Joe Pickett reader knows those two events are just the tip of the iceberg!

The package is a 1938 scrapbook of a Nazi, a close associate of Adolph Hitler and the moose is a burned body of an old fishing guide! Mary Beth take on their discoveries that will haunt their holiday.

And their friend Nate Romanowski is searching for his stolen Falcons! His search gets him involved in the shady lives of his fellow falconers that leads him to a confrontation with radicals involved with Antifa.

If that sounds like a wild tail, it really is a wild intriguing story! It is the one of the best from C.J. Box.

I rate this book an A+++. I started reading Box just a couple years ago and have read 21 of 28 novels published by him. I rate C.J. Box the best author right now. That is of the 40 plus authors I have read!
