This is the first book I have read by Charlie Donlea. Wow what a great murder mystery!
Alexandra witnesses her family’s murder and is found holding the murder weapon. She is arrested and charged with their deaths. The police begin her interrogation and take advantage of the young woman. One of the police officers calls her husband to be Alexandra’s lawyer to save her from the police.
When she was lead from her home, she was surrounded by the press, who dubbed her Empty Eyes because of her stunned expression.
Her story made national news and everyone knew Empty Eyes. Charges were dropped and she won a multimillion dollar law suit against the State. She was free but harassed by the true crime fanatics.
Eventually she got a job with her Lawyer’s firm as an investigator, with a new look and identity. She struggled with the fact that she survived and never found who was responsible for her family’s murders! Over the years she had a couple leads that look like dead ends.
Ten years later while working on her firm’s cases she made a contact that opened many doors and lots of danger. Will she find answers? Will those Empty Eyes be seen again?
You have to read this great book! I read it in two days. It was so exciting! I am hooked on Charlie Donlea and already started another “Twenty Years Later” by Donlea.
I rate this book an A plus.
