Old Man Jack’s Book Review of Fairy Tale

I continued my tradition of reading a Stephen King novel as my first book of the new year. Santa always brings me one of his books if I am a good boy!

Fairy Tale is a tale of Charlie Reade’s life in small town in Maine and starts with an accident on the Sycamore street bridge. Then Charlie asks for a miracle involving his father and he makes a vow that changes his whole life. Charlie meets Mr. Bowditch and his dog Radar. Mr Bowditch is a recluse that lives in a big old house on the hill.

Charlie helps Mr. Bowditch and when he dies he leaves Charlie with a cassette tape telling an unbelievable story. What he knows that in his shed is a portal to another world.

This is a tale of good versus evil and a heroic boy and his dog must lead the battle.

This is a classic Stephen King novel that was imaginative and real at the same time. Charlie Reade is an inspirational character, a real young hero and role model. The Other world is not too hard to imagine as reality in our future. This world came to King as he viewed our pandemic world.

I highly recommend this book and I give it an A + rating! You will really enjoy the book and will be cheering Charlie the whole time!

As you may know I am a Stephen King constant reader having read all of his books and have a collection of them as well. King us an avid reader of all genres and through his example I am striving to expand my reading journey.

After reading several of King’s thousand pagers, I challenged myself to read the Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic church which I completed and opened God’s Word to me.
